Shangri-La wins its court case
JAKARTA (JP): The Supreme Court has ruled to favor of Shangri- La Hotel in its termination of 75 former hotel employees who were involved in a strike, illegal demonstrations and occupation of the hotel in December 2000.
"The decision was taken on Thursday and it is final," hotel senior manager Wastu Widanto told The Jakarta Post on Friday.
"The Supreme Court has backed the previous decision of the Central Committee for the Settlement of Labor Disputes (P4P) on the termination," he added.
Wastu also said the hotel management offered the 75 former employees compensation packages far better than required according to government regulations.
"We, however, rule out any possibility of reemploying them as the Supreme Court's decision backed the termination," he said.-- JP
