Shallow M6.4 Earthquake Jolts North Sulawesi
A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 jolted North Sulawesi on Wednesday at 11:14 WIB. According to official information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the epicentre was located at 5.60 degrees North latitude and 125.27 degrees East longitude, approximately 221 kilometres northwest of Pulau Karatung, North Sulawesi. The quake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres. The Indonesia Tsunami Early Warning System (INATEWS) of BMKG stated that the earthquake did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami. As of the time of reporting, there was no further information regarding aftershocks. BMKG advised the public to remain cautious of possible aftershocks.
