Shadow terminal at Cengkareng

From Warta Kota

The traffic conditions in Jakarta are really horrible. This is
caused, among other things, by traffic officers' ignorance of
drivers who are undisciplined. Take, for example, the Cengkareng
crossroad in West Jakarta. It is not a public secret any more
that the location around the crossroad is turning into a sort of
shadow terminal for various destinations (Grogol, Kalideres,
Tangerang and Kembangan or the way leading to the airport).

The shadow terminals at the other end of the crossroad and on
the artery leading to the airport severely disrupt traffic flow.
On the corner, there are often more than six buses waiting to
take on passengers thus occupying too much room and making the
traffic taper off. Furthermore, the small mini buses stopping
anywhere they wish also aggravates the condition.

These drivers are really making us suffer; so traffic jams are
a common sight. Police officers on duty there never take any
action, but instead, they are only preoccupied with violators of
traffic lights.

If traffic police are strict and do what they are supposed to
do, they will certainly make Jakarta a nice place to drive and
reduce the number of traffic violators.
