SGD Becomes Portfolio Diversification Choice for Wealthy Clients
Singapore dollar (SGD) deposits are beginning to be used as an option for portfolio diversification by wealthy clients. PT Bank DBS Indonesia and PT Mandiri Manajemen Investasi are providing referral services for Individual Customer Fund Management (PDNI)/Fund Management Contracts (KPD) denominated in SGD for affluent and high-net-worth clients. Through this collaboration, eligible Bank DBS Indonesia clients can access fund management services by Mandiri Investasi. Funds will be managed based on the client’s risk profile, investment objectives, and agreed mandate. Director of Consumer Banking Group at PT Bank DBS Indonesia, Melfrida Gultom, stated that the service represents a wealth management approach tailored to each client’s needs. “We believe that superior wealth management is not just about providing access to investment products, but about delivering personalised solutions that are truly relevant to each client’s unique needs,” she said in a written statement on Thursday (13/8/2026). The fund management strategy encompasses three asset classes: fixed income, equity, and commodity. The fixed income portfolio focuses on bonds with interest rate and credit risk management. The equity class provides exposure to large-cap company shares. Meanwhile, the commodity class utilises gold as an alternative for portfolio diversification amidst global market dynamics. Under this scheme, clients’ SGD funds can be managed across various asset classes according to the investment mandate, rather than simply being placed in a single currency deposit. Melfrida noted that global market dynamics, including SGD exchange rate movements, are taken into consideration when formulating investment strategies. “Through an insight-driven wealth management approach, we translate global market dynamics, including SGD trends and exchange rate movements, into actionable investment strategies,” she said. President Director of Mandiri Investasi, Hardiyanto Pilia, said the collaboration combines Bank DBS Indonesia’s wealth management capabilities with Mandiri Investasi’s asset management expertise. “We believe this collaboration is a strategic step to provide increasingly relevant fund management solutions amidst clients’ needs for portfolio diversification and comprehensive asset management,” he stated. Under the service, clients grant a mandate to the investment manager to manage funds in accordance with investment objectives, risk profile, and contractual terms. The investment manager then constructs and manages the portfolio and may adjust strategies based on market conditions and the agreed mandate. Mandiri Investasi recorded managed funds of more than IDR 62 trillion as of July 2026. Clients also gain access to market insights and research from DBS Group to help understand global market dynamics as part of their investment decision-making.
