SGC clarifies
We, KITACommunications, on behalf of the Sugar Group Companies
(SGC), wish to notify you that some information is less than
accurately reported in the article published in The Jakarta Post
on Jan. 24, 2003, page 13, titled Acquisition of Salim asset in
question.
The following information is not as conveyed by SGC:
"Makindo has thus far only been able to gain control of 3 percent
of the 54,000-hectare plot," Gunawan was quoted by Detik.com as
saying.
Sugar Group Companies made the purchase of ex-Register 47 land
legitimately before a notary of the Indonesian Bank Restructuring
Agency (IBRA) and acquired the mill as well as the plantation
area to the extent specified in the info memo. The entire land is
de facto and in legal terms under the control of our company.
