HOUSTON (Reuter): Santa Fe Energy Resources Inc. reported the best test of its Mudi prospect on the Indonesian island of Java saying the field is obviously a commercial project although it cannot yet estimate the ultimate reserves.

The company said Thursday the Mudi No. 5 had combined flow rates of about 10,500 barrels of 35 degree gravity oil per day on tests of some 535 feet of hydrocarbon bearing rock between depths of 8365 and 8900 feet.

Santa Fe Energy has a 12.5 percent interest in the prospect as do subsidiaries of Total SA and ENSERCH Corp. A 50 percent interest is held by Pertamina.
