A woman from Pandeglang, Banten, identified by the initials NW (40), who is a victim of alleged sexual harassment by a member of the Serang City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), visited the Serang City DPRD Speaker, Muji Rohman, to seek justice.

“We submitted a complaint to the Serang City DPRD Speaker regarding the alleged harassment committed by one of the Serang City DPRD members,” the victim, NW, said on Tuesday (30/6/2026).

NW has filed a police report with the Pandeglang Police. However, she stated that the case has yet to see any progress or legal certainty. “To date, there has been no progress and no certainty regarding the legal status,” NW said.

The victim’s brother, Hermawan, explained that the victim and her family’s presence was to request that the DPRD not provide legal and political protection to the alleged perpetrator. He hopes the case will proceed according to the applicable regulations without intervention from any party. “We hope there will be no protection, either politically or legally. We want this process to proceed according to the applicable provisions,” Hermawan said.

He added that they are currently awaiting developments in the case from the police and hope for legal certainty soon. “Regarding the progress of the case, we hope for certainty as soon as possible,” he said.

Responding to the victim’s visit, Serang City DPRD Speaker Muji Rohman stated that he respects the ongoing legal process. He said the DPRD will prepare administrative sanctions if the alleged perpetrator is formally named a suspect. “If he has been named a suspect, the sanction is a suspension of three to five months. During the suspension period, the individual will not receive the facilities of a council member,” Muji Rohman said.

Muji added that this step is part of the DPRD’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the institution. If the individual is later named a defendant, he will request the supporting political party to carry out an inter-time replacement (PAW). “If he becomes a defendant, we will propose to the relevant party to conduct a PAW,” he said.

It is understood that the harassment case began when the victim and the alleged perpetrator were discussing the rental costs for a kitchen for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.
