The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) has expressed its stance against tolerating any form of violence in higher education environments. Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Brian Yuliarto responded to the recent violence case at the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (FH UI). “I have also coordinated with the Rector (of UI), and we are continuously monitoring the developments in handling this case, including ensuring that the affected parties receive proper protection and support,” Brian said in an official statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (14/4/2026). “Therefore, we emphasise that there must be no tolerance for any form of violence on campus, in whatever form,” he added. Brian stated that higher education institutions are obligated to ensure safe, inclusive environments free from all forms of violence, whether physical, verbal, psychological, sexual, or digital-based. “Every action that degrades human dignity is a serious violation and must be handled seriously, fairly, and prioritising victim protection,” he said. Regulations require every higher education institution to establish and strengthen the Task Force for Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education Environments (Satgas PPKPT), as well as guarantee victim protection and recovery. If criminal elements are found in the handling process, Brian continued, law enforcement will refer to Law No. 12 of 2022 on Sexual Violence Crimes in accordance with applicable provisions. As part of strengthening reporting access, the public and academic community can submit reports through the LAPOR! Channel (SP4N-LAPOR), Satgas PPKPT at respective higher education institutions, and official Kemdiktisaintek complaint channels at the Call Centre: 126, ult@kemdiktisaintek.go.id, and 085186069126. This involves strengthening prevention systems through education, supervision, and institutional reinforcement; encouraging strict enforcement of administrative and legal sanctions; and guiding the creation of a safe, inclusive, and integrity-based campus culture. “Kemdiktisaintek emphasises that higher education must be a space that upholds humanitarian values, justice, and integrity, free from all forms of violence,” stated Brian Yuliarto.
