Jakarta (ANTARA) - The sexual assault case involving an uncle with initials MH (43) and his niece with initials NPA (15) in Kebayoran Baru has been referred to the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari). “Investigators have received information from the South Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office that the case has been issued with a P21 and they immediately proceeded to stage II on Thursday (2/4),” said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasat Reskrim) of the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Mohamad Iskandarsyah, to reporters in Jakarta on Friday. Iskandarsyah stated that the case file is complete and has been handed over to the prosecutor’s office. He added that investigators explained the handling of the case to the victim via a video call “Zoom meeting” initiated by the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI). Subsequently, investigators provided information to relevant parties and received appreciation from YouTuber Deny Sumargo, who viralised the case. “Investigators have provided an explanation to Deny Sumargo regarding the professional handling efforts in accordance with procedures,” he said. The chronology of the sexual assault occurred on Monday (5/8/2024) when the perpetrator and victim were inside the house. The act then continued for a second time at another time. The victim also sustained a laceration wound in the forehead/temple area, bruises on the hand, pain in the head, face, and abdomen. On Thursday (8/8/2024), the victim’s mother reported to the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters with report registration number LP/B/5105/VIII/2024/SPKT/Polda Metro Jaya. The case was then taken over by the South Jakarta Metro Police. In its development, the perpetrator was detained in June 2025 after being designated as a suspect. His detention was then suspended. Police secured evidence in the form of one sheet of confession statement made by MH on 25 August 2025 on Rp10,000 stamp duty. For his actions, the perpetrator faces charges of child molestation as stipulated in Article 76E in conjunction with Article 82 of Law No. 17 of 2016 on the Stipulation of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law No. 1 of 2016 on the Second Amendment to Law No. 23 of 2002 on Child Protection. The perpetrator faces imprisonment of 5-15 years and a maximum fine of Rp5 billion.
