Sexual Abuse Case Against Underage Female Students Re-emerges at Islamic Boarding School in Susukan, Semarang

The investigation into sexual abuse cases against female students in several areas of Central Java has not yet been completed before another case of abuse against a number of female students has occurred at an Islamic boarding school in Susukan District, Semarang Regency, perpetrated by a fake habib. A number of victims who are female students at an Islamic boarding school in Susukan District, Semarang Regency, reported a case of abuse by a caregiver, AJS (56), who claimed to be a habib but was later exposed as a fake and is still under investigation. “There are at least eight victims of abuse aged 13-14 years, and it is estimated there will be more within the period of 2023-2024. We forcibly picked up the suspect because he was uncooperative,” said Head of the Semarang Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Bodia Teja Lelana Kanis (11/6). According to Bodia Teja Lelana, the abuse case at an Islamic boarding school in Susukan, Semarang Regency, came to light after a victim reported it in May 2025, prompting officers to immediately follow up with an investigation by gathering witness and victim statements, questioning the suspect, and collecting evidence. Based on the investigation results, Bodia Teja Lelana explained that this case began when the boarding school received a visitor, AJS, a resident of Salatiga City who claimed to be a habib. Over time, he devoted himself to the school as a caregiver and approached the underage victims. In addition to claiming to be a habib, the suspect AJS began carrying out acts of abuse against the female students under the guise of religion to facilitate his actions, threatening that if his victims did not comply, their fortunes would be difficult and they would be sinful. Bodia Teja Lelana added that besides examining the suspect, investigators are still deepening the case and conducting further development, as the number of victims is expected to increase. “We are charging this suspect under the Child Protection Law with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison,” he added.
