Sex tourism not tolerated
KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara (JP): A local tourism official has
declared a fight against sex tourism in the province.
Head of the provincial office of the Ministry of Tourism, Musa
Tarigan, called on hotel managers and owners not to let their
hotels become venues for "the sex trade, gambling and clandestine
political meetings".
Tarigan said those activities "would endanger the (hotel)
owners themselves", Antara reported yesterday.
As for the less-than-booming tourism industry in the province,
Tarigan blamed, among other things, the local people, who he said
are not friendly enough toward visitors. (swe)
