Sex in commercials
Sex in commercials
From Media Indonesia
I am deeply concerned and disappointed over the quality and
substance of a Hemaviton ad which shows three scantily clad
women, as it goes against decency and has little relevance to the
product advertised. Exposing the scantily covered body of a woman
or a man in an ad means indirectly resorting to pornography to
sell a product. This is a debasing thing to do as the ad will not
say much about the benefits and qualities of the product.
A consumer is entitled to receive the needed information. Why
don't all of us honestly ask ourselves what the immediate
impression is upon seeing an advertisement showing scantily clad
women or men. Creativity is necessary in creating an
advertisement, but an ad must not ignore decency and educational
values. Have producers willingly involved themselves in efforts
to degrade the nation's moral values through advertisements?
