Sex exploitation in films

From Media Indonesia

The screening of Buruan Cium Gue (Kiss Me Quick), a wide-
screen film produced by Multivision Plus seems to complement
television films fraught with sex scenes.

This particular film has drawn strong criticism from, among
others, noted cleric A'a Gym and former sex star Inneke
Koesherawati.

However, some people -- artists and mass media experts -- have
said that this film reflects a social reality and that the scenes
of kissing in the film must be accepted as a form of artistic
expression.

Although the question whether kissing scenes in a film are
acceptable and natural or not will be a subject for a long,
drawn-out debate, it is clear that a film containing such scenes
are not educational, especially because the story is set in a
school, a place where ethics and morality must be upheld. In this
context, we have to return to the religious values and heed the
voice of our own conscience.
