Severe Traffic Congestion on Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road from Km 15, 1 Km Journey Takes 15 Minutes
Severe traffic congestion occurred on the Jakarta–Cikampek toll road, originating from Km 15 and including access to the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed (MBZ) elevated road, on Wednesday (18 March 2026) morning.
Based on observations at 08:30 WIB, traffic flow was sluggish and appeared to be at a standstill upon entering Km 15. Under normal conditions, this stretch typically takes approximately one minute to traverse.
One motorist, Sandro, stated that he was travelling from Pasar Rebo towards Ciwidey. He initially attempted to use the MBZ elevated road access, but encountered severe congestion. Sandro subsequently decided to take the lower lane.
Initially, traffic was flowing smoothly, but congestion began accumulating from Km 15 onwards, extending continuously through to Km 32, as per the route Sandro travelled.
As of the time of reporting, Sandro indicated that the congestion remained extensive with no identifiable endpoint. “Maps kept instructing me to exit. At every exit it told me to get off, then get back on again. Both upper and lower lanes were completely congested,” Sandro said. “The traffic jam is still extensive,” he added.
As of the reporting time, no visible traffic management measures such as contraflow arrangements or official traffic control personnel were apparent at the location.
