Severe Traffic Congestion in Solo Baru Due to Flooding
Flooding that submerged roads in Solo Baru, Sukoharjo, caused traffic congestion this morning. Vehicle queues stretched from the Pandawa Statue intersection to the Soekarno Statue. According to detikJateng, observations at the scene on Wednesday (15/4/2026) at 08.40 WIB showed that the road from Soekarno Statue towards Solo city was closed by residents due to high water pooling. Meanwhile, congestion began from the Pandawa Statue intersection to Soekarno Statue, a distance of about two kilometres. The high water levels on the road forced the Solo to Sukoharjo route to be used for two directions, resulting in extraordinary congestion. Vehicles were barely moving. “From Pandawa Statue to Soekarno Statue, it’s usually just 3 minutes in normal conditions. Now it’s up to an hour,” said Suyanto, one of the motorcyclists stuck in the congestion at the location. On Tuesday night (14/4), several areas in Baki and Grogol sub-districts, Sukoharjo Regency, were affected by flooding due to the overflow of Bengawan Solo River tributaries. The flood submerged roads, and in several points, water entered residents’ homes. Grogol Sub-district Head, Herdis Kurnia Wijaya, stated that the affected villages include Manang, Sanggrahan, Banaran, Cemani, Gedangan, and Langenharjo. The flooding occurred because several tributaries could not accommodate the water discharge, such as Kali Mranggen, Kali Kembang, the irrigation canal in front of RS dr. Oen, and Kali Jenes.
