Severe Damage on Daan Mogot Road at Cengkareng Intersection Poses Accident Risk
JAKARTA - The condition of the damaged road on Jalan Daan Mogot, specifically at the Cengkareng traffic light intersection, has been complained about by residents and road users. The damage is said to be hazardous due to several deep potholes at the intersection point. Based on observations at the location on Tuesday afternoon (24/3/2026), the road at the junction of Jalan Lingkar Luar Dalam and Jalan Raya Daan Mogot appears severely damaged. At least six large potholes are scattered across several points. The peeling asphalt has exposed metal plates of road joints protruding to the surface. Inside the potholes, gravel, concrete wire structures, and small puddles of water are visible, posing potential dangers to motorists. One of the ojek drivers stationed near Rawa Buaya Halte, Syafri (41), said the damage has occurred since about two weeks ago, following floods that hit the area. “It’s been since mid-Ramadan, after the flood. Whereas previously the road was fine,” said Syafri. He suspects the damage was triggered by high rainfall and the high volume of heavy vehicles passing through the route. “Lots of big trucks pass by; yesterday it was muddy from the flood, maybe that’s what caused the damage,” he said. “At night it’s also dark, with minimal lighting. If speeding and suddenly braking, it could be fatal,” he added. He hopes the government will carry out repairs soon before it causes casualties. Meanwhile, the Head of the Data and Information Centre for Road Infrastructure of DKI Jakarta, Siti Dinar Wenny, said her side has just received the report regarding the damage. She assured that the report will be immediately forwarded to the technical team for inspection and repairs. “It will be notified to the technical team to immediately check the location and carry out repairs,” said Wenny.
