Jakarta — State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has issued an apology for congestion that occurred at several points during the 2026 Eid holiday exodus period. One of the most severe instances was the traffic jam on the Java-Bali crossing route.

“There were indeed some incidents, and we apologise, there was a backlog due to quite extraordinary traffic at the Ketapang and Gilimanuk crossings,” said Prasetyo at the Ministry of Defence on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

Prasetyo noted a significant surge in traffic flow at Ketapang and Gilimanuk Ports during the Eid exodus period. In response, the government has pledged to maintain field monitoring and deploy personnel to find solutions to reduce queues and congestion.

“We are conducting continuous monitoring and field personnel are working hard to find solutions to reduce congestion and queues,” Prasetyo said.

He also commended the public for making good use of the Eid holiday break, ensuring that travel distribution was not concentrated at specific times.

“We also wish to express our gratitude to all personnel on duty in the field from the police, Ministry of Transport, and all state-owned enterprises, Pelindo, ASDP, and others who have worked hard,” he added.
