The Klungkung Regency Government (Pemkab Klungkung) will relocate residents along the Monggalan Beach coastline in Kusamba Village whose homes have suffered severe damage due to erosion. On Friday (10/4/2026), Vice Regent Klungkung Tjokorda Gde Surya Putra led a meeting on the relocation plans for the affected residents. At the same time, the Kusamba Village Government (Pemdes Kusamba) hopes that the relocation execution will be carried out as soon as possible, given the very severe erosion combined with threats from extreme weather. “The condition at Monggalan Beach is already very severe due to erosion. We are taking swift action to relocate the residents to a safer and more comfortable place, so they can soon have decent housing,” said Surya. On the same occasion, Surya expressed his concerns about the condition of Monggalan Beach, which has experienced very severe environmental damage. He emphasised that the government’s top priority at this time is to ensure the safety of the residents and provide certainty of decent accommodation. Meanwhile, the Head of Kusamba Village, Nengah Semadi Adnyana, stated that currently there are 12 family heads (KK) in the Monggalan area directly affected by the erosion. Of the 12 KK, there are 7 KK who do not have private land to receive home renovation assistance. “These seven families will be prioritised to immediately occupy the Santhi Rahayu Row Houses in Sulang Village,” explained Nengah Semadi. Semadi added that Pemdes Kusamba hopes the residents’ relocation can be carried out in the near future, considering the extreme weather still threatening the coastal area.
