Several Rooms in Kuantan Singingi Regent's Office Sealed
Several rooms in the Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent’s office in Riau were sealed on Tuesday, amidst information regarding an alleged operation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) team in the area since the previous day. The entrance to the office of Kuansing Regent Suhardiman Amby was seen fitted with red sealing tape. In addition to the regent’s office, the sealing was also carried out on the offices of Vice Regent Mukhlisin, Regional Secretary Zulkarnain, and Assistant I of the Regional Secretariat Fahdiasyah. As of the time of writing, there has been no official statement regarding the party that carried out the sealing or its connection to the operation taking place in the area. Previously, activity suspected to involve the KPK team was observed in Teluk Kuantan since Monday (29/6). At that time, the area was hosting the Riau Province-level Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) and the Rayon II Pacu Jalur Festival. One location that drew attention was the official residence of Regional Secretary Zulkarnain. Several Brimob patrol vehicles were seen arriving at the location and escorting officers who entered the residence area. After the officers entered, the gate of the official residence was closed by Satpol PP personnel on guard. Information also circulated that Kuansing Regent Suhardiman Amby was at the Kuansing Police Headquarters. However, this information could not be officially confirmed. When journalists visited the Kuansing Police, access to certain areas was guarded by police officers. The officers on duty asked journalists to coordinate with the Kuansing Police Public Relations Section for further information. ‘If you want confirmation, please go directly to the Police Public Relations Head,’ said an officer at the scene. On Monday night, several vehicles were seen moving from the Regional Secretary’s official residence area towards Pekanbaru. Meanwhile, activity was also observed at the Riau Regional Police Headquarters until the evening. However, to date, there has been no official statement from the police or the KPK regarding the series of activities that took place in Kuansing. When asked for confirmation, the KPK News Bureau only provided a brief reply via WhatsApp messaging service. ‘Thank you for contacting the KPK News Bureau. We will respond to your message shortly,’ the message received by journalists read.
