The Public Works and Housing Department of Gunungkidul Regency stated that holes were deliberately made on several road sections in Wonosari. The department has reported this finding to the Gunungkidul Police.

As observed by detikJogja, the holes are located on the road section near the Gunungkidul Regional Development Bank (BDG). The holes are of moderate size, with a tree branch used as a marker.

Head of the Gunungkidul Public Works and Housing Department, Rakhmadian Wijayanto, said that the department initially received reports from the public regarding road damage. The damage consisted of holes appearing on several road sections.

“The incident occurred last night, and the holes appear to have been deliberately drilled by someone,” he said when contacted by reporters on Thursday (February 26, 2026).

The holes, Rakhmadian continued, are located on the road near BDG, the Kranon-Kepek road section leading to the Tobong roundabout, and Jalan Sumarwi, Wonosari, Gunungkidul. Rakhmadian said he had requested information from related parties, including Telkom.

“After clarification, it turned out that there were no official activities, either from government agencies or Telkom. So, the work was done without a permit and is illegal,” he said.

Therefore, the Public Works and Housing Department has filled in some of the holes with new asphalt. This is because the holes damage the road, and the road is a regional asset.

“We have also reported this incident to the Gunungkidul Police,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Gunungkidul Police, AKP Subarsana, said that he had not yet investigated the information. However, the police have been monitoring the reports from the Public Works and Housing Department.

“There is no information yet, we are only monitoring on social media,” he said.
