Several Regions Offer to Host Nahdlatul Ulama's 2026 Congress
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - General Secretary of the Nahdlatul Ulama Central Board, Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul, revealed that several regions have offered to host the 35th NU Congress, which will be held from 1 to 5 August 2026.
“There are several regions proposing to be the host, such as in NTB, West Sumatra, and several in East Java,” said Gus Ipul at the Ministry of Social Affairs office in Central Jakarta on Thursday (7/5/2026).
Nevertheless, the determination of the congress venue will be decided in a meeting, taking various factors into consideration.
“Considerations include access, facilities and infrastructure, with the very short time frame of about two months. All of these will be factors in determining the location,” he stated.
In addition to the location, technical preparations include preparing materials and verifying eligible participants for the congress.
“First, before the Congress, there will be the Ulama National Conference and the National Conference, to be held in June,” said Gus Ipul.
The results from the National Conference and the National Conference will serve as materials for the upcoming 35th Congress.
Gus Ipul can assure that all regional (PWNU) and branch (PCNU) managements have been processed properly in accordance with all existing provisions.
“Do not believe news that decrees are not signed. All decrees are signed after review, examination, and declared to meet the requirements,” said Gus Ipul.
He invited regional management ranks to focus on preparing for the Congress and not to be swayed by issues that may not be true.
