JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has revealed that ahead of Eid 2026, several regions in Indonesia are being plagued by floods, forest fires, and strong winds. Head of the BNPB’s Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Centre, Abdul Muhari, urges local governments and communities to maintain heightened vigilance against potential wet and dry hydrometeorological disasters. He asks the public to monitor weather information regularly, keep their surroundings clean, and immediately report emergencies to the local Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD). Floods occurred in North Central Timor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, on Tuesday (17/3/2026). Abdul stated that this incident was triggered by high-intensity rain and affected 150 households or 500 people. “The flood has now subsided, and the local BPBD continues to conduct data collection and coordination for handling,” said Abdul in his statement on Thursday (19/3/2026). Subsequently, floods also occurred in Gresik Regency, East Java Province, on Monday (16/3/2026). Not only that, floods also hit Majalengka Regency, West Java, on Wednesday (18/3/2026). This incident impacted 332 households or 969 people. Nevertheless, the flood conditions have been reported to have fully receded.
