Karawang (ANTARA) - West Java Regional Police (Polda Jawa Barat) are mobilising personnel at several potential congestion or traffic jam points on arterial routes during the 2026 Lebaran return flow.

West Java Police Chief Irjen Pol Rudi Setiawan stated that the implementation of the one-way traffic engineering system is diverting vehicles from west to east, or from Jakarta to Java regions, onto arterial routes, increasing the risk of density.

“This is why Polda Jabar personnel have been deployed at points prone to intersections and crossings to avoid congestion,” said Irjen Pol Rudi during a media briefing at the Jasamarga Cikampek Main Toll Gate Office in Karawang, West Java, on Saturday.

Irjen Pol Rudi highlighted potential congestion points on Karawang’s arterial routes, such as Simpang Jomin and the bridge in Sukra, Indramayu, where the tradition of throwing coins is often practised.

“We have designated that if congestion occurs in Lohbener, we will divert traffic into the city, exiting again at Cirebon City. This serves as a solution for diverting flow on arterial routes,” Rudi explained.

Furthermore, Polda Jawa Barat continues to monitor three-axle vehicles during the 2026 Lebaran return flow period to anticipate density on arterial routes.

“In accordance with the Joint Decree, we are still enforcing the ban on three-axle vehicles. Over the past several days, enforcement actions have been taken to prevent additional congestion on arterial routes,” said Irjen Pol Rudi.

Previously, on Friday (26/3), the National Traffic Police Corps implemented the local Precision one-way system, with the first stage from Km 132 of the Cipali Toll to Km 70 of the Cikampek Main Toll. The second stage of the Precision one-way is from Km 263 of the Pejagan Toll to Km 70.
