Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad (JMT), together with Jasamarga Tollroad Operator (JMTO) and the police, implemented traffic management measures on the inner-city toll road due to demonstrations around the DPR/MPR building on Thursday (27/8).

At the discretion of the police, traffic from the Cililitan and Halim toll gates heading towards the Inner-City Toll Road was temporarily diverted towards Tanjung Priok.

In addition, transactions were temporarily suspended at a number of toll gates, namely: Cawang, Tebet 1, Kuningan 1, Senayan, Slipi 1, Slipi 2, Pejompongan, Angke 2, Jelambar 2 and Tanjung Duren.

“Road users coming from Slipi heading towards Cawang are also advised to temporarily avoid the Inner-City Toll Road and adjust their travel routes to the traffic conditions,” said Senior General Manager of Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad Widiyatmiko Nursejati in a written statement.

“Jasa Marga apologises for the inconvenience caused by these operational adjustments,” he added.

Today’s demonstration around the DPR RI building took place from morning until evening. Crowds from various groups took turns visiting the location to voice their aspirations.

The action held by a number of groups continued into the evening, forcing the police to disperse the action by spraying water cannon at around 19.00 WIB.

Some of the crowd retreated towards Jalan Gerbang Pemuda. Others retreated towards Slipi.

This afternoon’s action was carried out by a number of community groups, including students from the Indonesia University of Education, the National Development University, the Open University and other community elements. One of their demands was the ratification of the Asset Forfeiture Bill.
