Several Former Ambassadors Meet with Jusuf Kalla This Evening
Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla received several former Indonesian ambassadors and senior diplomats at his residence in South Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
Those in attendance included Makarim Wibisono, former Indonesian Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva; Nazaruddin Nasution, former Ambassador to Cambodia; Imron Cotan, former Ambassador to China and Australia; Hamzah Thayeb, former Ambassador to Britain; and Bunyan Saptomo, former Ambassador to Bulgaria and Albania.
Also present were Lutfi Rauf, former Ambassador to Egypt and Djibouti; Wieke Adiyatwidi Adiwoso, former Ambassador to Spain; Al Busyra Basnur, former Ambassador to Ethiopia, Djibouti, and the African Union; and Hery Saripudin, former Ambassador to Kenya. International relations expert Dinna Prapto Raharja also attended.
According to observers, the delegates arrived and occupied the meeting room at Kalla’s residence around 20:10 local time. Kalla, wearing a white shirt with floral motifs, received them. One of the ambassadors stated that the meeting aimed to seek Kalla’s advice on the global situation. The meeting was ongoing at the time of reporting.
Previously, several economists met with Kalla at his South Jakarta residence on Sunday evening, 8 March 2026. During that meeting, the economists and Kalla discussed the impact of the United States-Iran conflict on Indonesia’s economy.
Wijayanto Samirin stated that the purpose of the meeting with Kalla was to broaden perspectives so that economists could provide policy recommendations according to the nation’s requirements.
