Several Former Ambassadors and Analysts Meet with JK
JAKARTA — Several former ambassadors and international relations analysts met with Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK), at his residence on Jalan Brawijaya Raya, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta on Thursday evening, 12 March 2026.
The former ambassadors had already arrived at JK’s home before he joined them in a room equipped with a whiteboard for their discussion.
Those present included former Indonesian Ambassador to the UN in Geneva Makarim Wibisono, former Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia Nazaruddin Nasution, former Indonesian Ambassador to China and Australia Imron Cotan, former Indonesian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Hamzah Thayeb, and former Indonesian Ambassador to Bulgaria and Albania Bunyan Saptomo.
One representative stated that they wished to seek JK’s input regarding the current global situation.
The previous week, JK had received Iran’s Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammad Boroujerdi. The meeting discussed the current developments in Iran and the possibility of Indonesia’s role in promoting a resolution to the conflict.
Iran’s government hoped for support from the Muslim community, including from Indonesia. JK also noted that President Prabowo Subianto is willing to serve as a mediator in the conflict if requested.
