Several Facilities at Mataram Tourist Destinations Damaged

A number of public facilities at tourist destinations in Mataram have been damaged, ranging from rust on building structures to aesthetic deterioration. The damage was caused by irresponsible individuals. The Mataram Tourism Office (Dispar) noted that several public facilities in tourist areas have been damaged, including the Loang Baloq Park area, Ampenan Beach, and Teras Udayana. The damage occurred due to the actions of irresponsible people. Head of the Mataram Tourism Office, Cahya Samudra, said one issue receiving serious attention is the viewing tower in the Loang Baloq area. The condition of the structure is considered dangerous for visitors due to severe corrosion. “Especially the dangerous ones, the viewing tower at Loang Baloq has more than 30 percent damage, we must repair it immediately. For the time being, we are closing it first because the condition is rusty,” Cahya said when confirmed on Wednesday. In addition to large infrastructure, the condition of small infrastructure and stalls at several tourist destinations has also come under scrutiny. Specifically for the stalls, the Mataram Tourism Office is asking traders to maintain cleanliness and the durability of the facilities. “As for other conditions like the paint, the condition of the stalls must also be maintained together with the traders. We also ask traders to take care of them together, especially since the buildings are not very old yet,” Cahya said. Cahya stressed that a number of damaged public facilities at Mataram’s tourist destinations must be repaired immediately. Moreover, Mataram will host the Association of Indonesian City Governments (Apeksi) event next year. The Mataram Tourism Office will conduct a survey regarding the points that need to be fixed. Meanwhile, Fahri, a visitor at Loang Baloq Park, said he was reluctant to sit in the facility area at Loang Baloq Park because its condition was quite damaged. “The gazebo is a bit rickety, I’m afraid it will break if we sit on it. I hope the relevant agency can move quickly so there are no victims,” Fahri hoped.
