Several Chinese car brands ready to offer special services for Eid holiday travellers
Jakarta — Several Chinese car manufacturers in Indonesia, such as GAC and Geely, are launching special services for owners of their vehicles ahead of the Eid holiday exodus (mudik) in 2026. These services include 24-hour emergency workshops during peak travel periods, dedicated support stations at strategic locations, and complimentary vehicle battery charging services.
“The holiday exodus is a journey rich in meaning for many Indonesian families, which is why customer safety and comfort are our top priority. Through our Eid 2026 Alert Programme, we want to ensure customers can undertake their holiday journey with confidence and peace of mind,” said GAC Indonesia CEO Andry Ciu.
Vehicle movements to hometowns typically begin to increase several days before Eid celebrations, which this year will occur next weekend. The Ministry of Transport estimates approximately 143.9 million passenger movements during this extended holiday period.
To support service availability, manufacturers including Geely, BYD, Chery, and GAC have prepared several emergency workshops that will operate normally during peak Eid 2026 periods. These services include 24-hour emergency roadside assistance (ERA), which will provide emergency support to vehicles during travel.
Furthermore, several of these brands have also opened dedicated support stations at various rest areas along the Trans-Java mudik route. GAC will operate alert stations at two rest areas whilst BYD’s stations are spread across six locations. GAC will provide complimentary battery charging and light refreshments at these support stations exclusively for GAC vehicle owners.
Additionally, several manufacturers are offering discounted rates for specific services needed during the holiday travel period. For example, Chery is offering promotional discounts for spare parts replacement, vehicle servicing, and oil changes, valid until 31 March. Meanwhile, Geely is providing complimentary vehicle inspections, covering exterior condition, engine compartment, driver cabin, and electrical systems, also running until the end of this month.
