A disruption in the electrical system occurred in several areas of DKI Jakarta on Thursday morning, 23 April 2026, and was widely discussed by netizens on social media. When contacted, Haris Andika, Senior Manager of Communication and Public Affairs for PLN UID Jakarta Raya, confirmed that PT PLN (Persero) is currently working to restore the electrical system following the disruption in parts of Jakarta since 10:25 AM WIB. “Gradually, the normalisation of electricity supply is being carried out by PLN both in the control system and in the field, since the disruption first occurred,” said Haris when contacted by Viva on Thursday, 23 April 2026. “Our technical teams are currently conducting intensive handling to restore the entire electrical system,” he stated. In parallel with the restoration process, Haris also said that PLN is currently tracing the source of the disruption that occurred. He added that PLN urges the public to remain calm and not be influenced by unaccountable information. “Currently, all personnel are on standby and striving to ensure the electricity supply returns to normal as soon as possible,” said Haris. “PLN will provide periodic updates on the restoration process of the electrical system through the PLN Mobile app and PLN Contact Center 123,” he added. It is known that previously on the social media platform X, netizens widely discussed reports of the power outage. Several affected areas in Jakarta include South Jakarta, Jelambar, Matraman, East Jakarta to Bekasi.
