Several Areas in Bandung Regency Facing Clean Water Crisis Due to Drought

Several areas in Bandung Regency are experiencing drought as a result of a prolonged dry season. The Bandung Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has begun intensifying the distribution of clean water assistance. One of the affected areas is Wargaluyu Village, Arjasari District, where dozens of community units (RW) have reported water supply shortages. “Alhamdulillah, we have distributed 15,000 litres of clean water. A total of 666 families, comprising 2,134 individuals across three RWs in Wargaluyu, have received clean water assistance,” said the Head of Prevention and Preparedness at BPBD Bandung Regency, Diki Sudrajat. Diki emphasised that the agency is committed to continuing the supply of aid to affected residents. In its implementation, BPBD is collaborating with the Bandung Regency Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) to reach residential areas. “We are conducting the distribution of clean water using water tankers,” he said. BPBD noted that several other districts are also experiencing drought, including Rancaekek, Cimaung, Cileunyi, Katapang, Pasirjambu, and Margaasih. “We are also supplying clean water to other areas affected by the drought,” he explained. To minimise the impact of a wider drought, BPBD continues to coordinate with various stakeholders. In addition to sending water tankers, long-term efforts through the optimisation of piping networks are also being undertaken.
