Ahead of Lebaran Mudik, the Bekasi Regency Department of Transportation (Dishub) has begun finalising preparations to support smooth traffic flow. In addition to staffing, Dishub is coordinating with multiple parties to ensure the readiness of facilities and infrastructure on Mudik routes. Acting Head of Dishub Agus Budiono said a coordination meeting had been held with the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic (Satlantas) and road operators, including national and provincial authorities, industrial estates and tol road managers. ‘Today we have held a coordination meeting with the Kasat Lantas within the Polres. We have coordinated on readiness for Mudik traffic, inviting various parties as road organisers, whether for national roads, provincial, regency, industrial areas or tol,’ he said on Friday (6 March 2026). He explained that some Mudik corridors are currently undergoing road repairs, with a target to complete all works before Mudik, expected to begin around 13 March 2026. ‘There are indeed road repairs in progress. The target is that everything for the Mudik routes — including National Roads, Kalimalang and toll roads — is finished before 13 March,’ Agus added. In addition to road infrastructure, Dishub Bekasi is also preparing personnel to assist with traffic management during Mudik. He said the agency will join the security post under the coordination of Polres Metro Bekasi. ‘We have prepared around 70 personnel who will join with the police to help manage traffic during the Mudik period,’ he stated. Moreover, Dishub is carrying out other measures such as ensuring the operation of public street lighting (PJU) along main Mudik routes, particularly along Jalan Inspeksi Kalimalang to the Karawang border. Agus added that the agency will also bolster traffic signs, road markings, and lane direction to facilitate motorists passing through Bekasi Regency. U-turns will also be controlled; several U-turn points, especially those considered to hinder traffic flow, will be temporarily closed during Mudik. Accelerating road repairs Separately, Bekasi Regency government is speeding up repairs on several routes, especially along Mudik lanes that are riddled with potholes or other damage to ensure safety and comfort for motorists during the Lebaran period. ‘I have instructed Bina Marga to speed up road repair, especially on Mudik routes with potholes or damage,’ said Acting Regent Asep Surya Atmaja during an on-site inspection. He noted that the number of damaged road points is relatively high, based on identifications on priority routes to prevent disruptions to traffic flow during Mudik and the subsequent balik (return) period. A total of 37 pothole points were identified on Mudik routes in Bekasi Regency according to data from the Bekasi Regency Traffic and Road Transport Forum. This did not include damage found on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.
