Seventeen East Java Hajj Pilgrims Still Hospitalised in Saudi Arabia

Seventeen Hajj pilgrims from East Java are still being treated in hospitals in Saudi Arabia, even though the repatriation process for pilgrims by the East Java Hajj Reception Committee (PPIH) has been completed. They are being treated at several hospitals in Saudi Arabia, including RS Hera, RS Samir Abbas, RS Jeddah, RS Saudi German Hospital, Saudi National Hospital, RS King Salman, Madinah Cardiac Center, KKHI Madinah, RS King Fahd, RS Al Mouwasat, RS Jiwar Hospital, KKHI Clinic, RS King Abdullah, RS Al-Saidi Jumum, and RS Al Noor. “They are being treated according to their respective conditions; if severe, they will be treated at a major hospital,” said the Head of PPIH Debarkasi Surabaya, Mohammad As’adul Anam, in Surabaya on Saturday (4/6). The PPIH is still placing its officers in the hospitals to monitor and report on the patients’ progress to the homeland, which is then forwarded to their families. In addition to illness, six pilgrims were recorded as having died during the repatriation process. One pilgrim, Hery Widianto from Malang City, died on the plane during the journey back to Indonesia. Five other pilgrims died after undergoing treatment: Wayan Rohani Suwasti from Malang City, Kasijatin Tiba from Pasuruan City, Darsiman Samsuri from Tuban Regency, Marsinah Marjan from Bojonegoro Regency, and Sri Oetarti from Surabaya City. “The entire process of handling the bodies and fulfilling the pilgrims’ rights has been carried out in accordance with applicable regulations. We oversaw the burial process until it was completely finished,” he said. Mohammad As’adul Anam expressed appreciation to all parties who contributed to the success of this year’s Debarkasi Surabaya operations. “The success of the Debarkasi Surabaya operation is the result of cooperation and collaboration from all elements involved. We thank all PPIH officers, local governments, related agencies, and the community who have supported the smooth service for Hajj pilgrims. Evaluations will continue to be carried out as material for improving the organisation of the Hajj pilgrimage in the coming years so that services to pilgrims become better, more professional, and humane,” he said.
