Seventeen deported from Pangkalpinang

PANGKALPINANG, South Sumatra: Immigration officials here have deported 17 foreigners this year.

Head of the local immigration office, A Malik, said the 17 people deported came from Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore.

"This month alone we have already deported three Singaporeans for misusing their tourist visas," he was quoted by Antara as having said.

Three Myanmar nationals are also awaiting deportation pending a response from their government. The three were found floating off Bangka Island nearly five months ago, he added.
