Seven Youths Arrested During Drug Party in Bekasi
The Narcotics Investigation Directorate of Metro Jaya Police conducted a raid on a drug party held at a house in the Bekasi area, West Java on Wednesday, 4 March, during the holy month of Ramadan.
In the raid, police arrested seven youths consisting of five men and two women, each identified only by their initials: AS, FA, AY, RR, MH, S and ML.
The raid was initiated following a report received by officers that the house was suspected of being frequently used for drug abuse. The team subsequently conducted an investigation and surveillance of the surrounding area until confirming the presence of the suspects inside the house.
“After coordinating with the residential security officers, the team immediately conducted the raid and apprehended the suspects,” said AKP Ari Purwanto, Head of Section 1 of Sub-Directorate 3 of the Narcotics Investigation Directorate of Metro Jaya Police, in his statement on Tuesday, 10 March.
Ari revealed that one suspect, identified as AS, was a wanted fugitive in a case involving 2,000 ecstasy tablets. AS was at the house with six other suspects and was suspected of being engaged in a drug party.
“The suspects were allegedly consuming narcotics at the residential complex,” Ari said.
According to Ari, the team immediately conducted urine tests on all seven individuals. The results showed that all tested positive for drug use.
In the arrest, police also seized evidence in the form of 18.35 grams of methamphetamine and six ecstasy tablets.
Ari stated that the suspects have been brought to the Narcotics Investigation Directorate of Metro Jaya Police for further investigation.
“Let us work together to eradicate drugs through early prevention, protect the environment and save our young generation from the dangers of drugs. Let us together keep Jakarta drug-free. Thank you,” he concluded.
