Seven UNM Students Selected as Volunteers for IEEE YESIST12 2026, Ready to Network with Global Innovators
The achievements of Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM) students as a Digital Business Campus have once again gained international recognition. Seven students from the Data Science programme have been selected as volunteers for the IEEE YESIST12 (Youth Endeavours for Social Innovation using Sustainable Technology) Grand Finale 2026, which will take place on 2–3 October 2026 at the BSI Convention Center.
IEEE YESIST12 is an international innovation platform that brings together students, researchers, startups, innovators, and young professionals from various countries to present technology-based solutions with social impact while supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Beyond being an innovation competition, the event also opens up space for global collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the strengthening of cross-border professional networks.
At this year’s event, UNM Data Science students have been entrusted with various strategic positions. Muhammad Fasha Alghazali and Dini Fitriyah Herti joined the Publicity Team, responsible for event publication and communication. Meanwhile, Guntur Surawijaya and Kanaya Salsabila Setiawan were appointed as Track-Wise Support Volunteers, tasked with supporting the coordination of various competition categories and ensuring the smooth running of participant activities during the event. Deswita Putria and Aiman Rizky Rahmatullah Kamil joined the English-Speaking Volunteer Team to assist international participants and facilitate cross-cultural communication. Damar Satria Wicaksono was entrusted as a Technical Support Volunteer to ensure all technical needs during the event run optimally.
The students’ involvement in this international event is not only an organisational experience but also a golden opportunity to build networks with academics, researchers, innovators, startups, and industry practitioners from various countries. This experience is expected to strengthen the students’ global competencies while enhancing their readiness to face an increasingly competitive job market.
Head of the UNM Data Science Programme, Tati Mardiana, expressed her appreciation for the students’ achievement in being selected as volunteers for the international event. “Volunteering at IEEE YESIST12 is a very valuable opportunity for students to learn directly from the organisation of an international event, expand their professional networks, and develop communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. We hope this experience will be an important asset for Data Science students in facing an increasingly competitive and dynamic global job market,” she said in a written statement on Sunday (5/7/2026).
According to her, the competence of Data Science graduates today is determined not only by technical skills in processing and analysing data but also by the ability to adapt, work in multicultural environments, and build collaborations at the international level. “As a Digital Business Campus, UNM encourages students to actively seize opportunities in international forums. Through their involvement as IEEE YESIST12 volunteers, students gain experience interacting directly with young innovators, researchers, academics, and industry players from various countries. This experience is an added value that strengthens soft skills while shaping graduates who are ready to compete in the era of digital transformation,” she said.
The participation of seven students in the IEEE YESIST12 Grand Finale 2026 underscores UNM’s commitment as a Digital Business Campus to producing graduates who are not only academically excellent but also possess international experience, global networks, and competencies relevant to the needs of future industries. Through various international programmes, UNM continues to open opportunities for its students to develop, collaborate, and bring Indonesian innovation to the world stage.
