Seven Suitcases Belonging to Thai Tourists Stolen Near Bromo, Three Suspects Arrested
Seven suitcases belonging to a group of Thai tourists in the Sukapura subdistrict of Probolinggo Regency were stolen. Police have now successfully apprehended the perpetrators.
Officers first secured the initial suspect, identified by the initials RH, a resident of Sumber Wetan subdistrict, Kedupok district, Probolinggo City, on Saturday afternoon (21 February) at approximately 4:00 pm local time at his residence.
Following interrogation of suspect RH by the Mobile Criminal Investigation Unit (Resmob), his confession revealed the involvement of additional perpetrators. The Resmob unit of Probolinggo Police, together with Sukapura Sector Police, subsequently detained two further individuals suspected of involvement in the theft of the seven suitcases — ED and his wife — at their home on Jalan Bogowonto, Kedupok district, Probolinggo City.
All suspects have now been taken into custody and brought to the Criminal Investigation Unit examination room at Probolinggo Police headquarters for further investigation.
The theft took place on Sunday morning (15 February 2026) in the car park in front of the Sukapura Pendopo, located in Wonotoro Village, Sukapura subdistrict, Probolinggo Regency, adjacent to the Tengger Museum and the Mount Bromo tourist area.
Probolinggo Police Chief M. Wahyudin Latif confirmed the arrest of the suspects responsible for stealing the seven suitcases belonging to the foreign tourists.
“That is correct — we have detained the perpetrators who stole seven suitcases belonging to foreign tourists from Thailand. We are still conducting examinations and developing leads so that the team can resolve this case thoroughly,” stated Senior Commissioner Wahyudin Latif when contacted on Sunday (22 February 2026).
