Seven suitcases belonging to Thai tourists containing valuable items went missing, allegedly stolen by thieves during a holiday in the Mount Bromo area, Sukapura District, Probolinggo. Police have stepped in to search for the suitcases and the suspected perpetrators.

The incident occurred on Sunday (15/2) and is currently under police investigation. The theft took place whilst the tour group’s vehicle was parked at the Sukapura District pavilion in Probolinggo Regency.

All of the tourists’ suitcases had initially been stored inside the parked vehicle. The driver and tourists then stepped out briefly, leaving the vehicle locked. However, the vehicle doors proved difficult to open despite showing no visible signs of damage from the outside.

“When it was opened, the interior was in disarray. The suitcases that had been neatly arranged were scattered about. After checking, seven suitcases were missing,” said Jhonni, the tour group’s travel agent.

One of the suitcases was successfully tracked via GPS, with the last detected location on Jalan Bogowonto, Kedopok District, Probolinggo City. Sukapura Police Chief AKP Ardhi Bita Kumala confirmed the suspected criminal theft of suitcases belonging to the foreign tourists.

“Currently, officers from Sukapura Police Station together with the Criminal Investigation Unit team from Probolinggo Police are conducting an investigation and further inquiries. We will provide additional updates in due course,” said Ardhi.
