North Jakarta’s Environmental Services Agency (Sudin LH) has proposed seven neighbourhood units (RWs) for the National Climate Village Programme (Proklim).

“We encourage all RWs to participate in the programme, but this year seven priority areas have been prepared for the national level,” said Ria Lantasi, Staff of the Community Participation Section at North Jakarta’s Environmental Services Agency, in Jakarta on Friday.

She explained that the Climate Village Programme has multiple tiers—from city, provincial to national levels—with categories of Main Proklim and Sustainable Proklim.

Ria listed six RWs proposed for the Main Proklim category: RW 09 in Semper Timur Village, RW 06 in Lagoa Village, RW 12 in West Kelapa Gading Village, RW 10 in Kebon Bawang Village, RW 06 in North Pademangan Village, and RW 04 in Penjaringan Village.

Meanwhile, RW 05 in Sunter Agung Village is projected to compete for the Sustainable Proklim category, the highest tier in the Climate Village Programme.

Last year, RW 01 in Sunter Jaya Village secured the Sustainable Proklim title, and RW 05 Sunter Agung is now expected to replicate this success.

“We continue to educate the public on the importance of waste management at source to reduce the burden on Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Management Facility (TPST),” Ria said.

She added that all assessment indicators are being met, with recent training sessions ensuring administrative and on-ground readiness.

“This is currently in the proposal stage. Training is being conducted to identify areas needing improvement to meet all assessment criteria,” said Imam.

He explained that thorough preparation is key for North Jakarta to achieve the best results in this national environmental conservation initiative.

“Preparations must be taken seriously as the administrative submission deadline is mid-June,” he added.

Meanwhile, RW 05 Head Nurus Shobah of Sunter Agung Village said preparations began long ago with active community involvement.

They have also shared experiences and provided guidance to 19 other RWs in the Sunter Agung Village area.

He highlighted seven key sites for climate adaptation and mitigation assessment: Riverbank Garden (KPK), Eco Park, Mosque Rooftop, Maggot Breeding Centre, Green Alley, RPTRA Sunter Muara, and PKK Heart Park.

“All these efforts are the result of community collaboration and mutual assistance. We are ready to prove that RW 05 in Sunter Agung Village deserves the Sustainable Proklim title,” Nurus said.
