Seven men arrested for drugs
JAKARTA (JP): City Police have arrested seven men for selling 156 grams of heroin, 1,500 Ecstasy pills, and 14 kilograms of dried marijuana.
City Police Detectives Chief Col. Paimin Aboeamr said a man with a Nigerian passport, WF, was arrested Saturday for selling 146 grams of heroin at a bus shelter on Jl. Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta.
According to Paimin, WF was arrested after another alleged heroin trader, WS, was arrested in the Kota area, West Jakarta on Jan. 29.
WS, with 10 grams of heroin on him, admitted to buying the drugs from WF, he said.
"The police got the number of WF's beeper from WS, then contacted the Nigerian, pretending to be buyers," he said.
He said the police agreed to meet WF at the bus shelter for the transaction and arrested him there.
Paimin said WF claimed to be Nigerian, but the Nigerian passport photo did not match his appearance.
Meanwhile, Paimin said the police also arrested two men for selling Ecstasy pills this week.
The first man was apprehended in the Jelambar area, West Jakarta, for selling 1,000 Ecstasy pills, while the other was arrested in a discotheque in Kota, West Jakarta, with 500 pills.
In the last seven days the City Police Drug Unit have also arrested three men for possessing 14 kilograms of dried marijuana in West and East Jakarta. (jun)
