Seven injured in toll road accident

The Jakarta Post, Jakarta

Seven people were severely wounded when an intercity bus, from the firm of Luragung Jaya, lost control and flipped over on the Cikampek toll road in Cikarang, Bekasi, on Sunday at 7:40 a.m. No other vehicles were involved.

An official of the toll road operator's Accident and Information Center said the accident was caused by the driver's recklessness. The driver himself is currently on the run.

"We suspect that the bus, packed with passengers and heading from Jakarta to Kuningan, West Java, was exceeding the speed limit when suddenly it lost control," said the official.

The seven victims were rushed to the Medika Cikarang Hospital emergency room, while 13 others suffered minor injuries.

Bekasi Police are handling the case and still looking for the driver.

It was the third accident on the Cikampek toll road this year. On Jan. 4, five people were killed and 42 others were injured while another three passengers died in an accident on Jan. 9.
