Seven Hajj Pilgrims from West Sumatra Still Undergoing Treatment in Saudi Arabia
The West Sumatra Regional Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has confirmed that seven Hajj pilgrims from the Padang embarkation point are still receiving intensive medical care in Saudi Arabia. “We pray that all pilgrims currently undergoing treatment are granted a swift recovery and can soon reunite with their families back home,” said M. Rifki, Head of the Kemenhaj Regional Office for West Sumatra, in Padang on Sunday. According to data from the Integrated Hajj Information and Computerisation System (Siskohat), the seven pilgrims undergoing treatment include Busnar Jamaran, Syafei Nawaar, and Usdiani Abu Nawas, all from Padang. Rifki stated that the pilgrims would be flown or repatriated to Indonesia once they are declared healthy and meet the requirements for air travel. Additionally, the ministry recorded that as of 20 June 2026, a total of 10 pilgrims from the Padang embarkation point had passed away in the Holy Land. “By the end of this year’s Hajj operations, 10 pilgrims from the Padang embarkation had died in the Holy Land,” Rifki said. The deceased include Yunilis Muin (74), Sofian Arbi (41), Imam Kanapi Qodir (81), Syamsu Kari Sudin (59), Mainusni Marukun (75), Nurjasmi Tamar Hamzah (70), and Hizbullah Sulan Sulan (78). The 10 pilgrims were buried in the Baqi, Sharaya, and Dahban cemeteries. Overall, the Padang Hajj embarkation dispatched 5,374 pilgrims, comprising 3,989 from West Sumatra, 1,331 from Bengkulu, 41 West Sumatra flight officers, and 13 Bengkulu flight officers.
