Seven die of diarrhea

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: Seven residents of Nuataus village, in the Fatuleu district 35 kilometers east of here, died in a recent diarrhea outbreak, while 20 others had to be hospitalized.

Antara quoted Dr. Edy Lamanepa of the health office in Kupang regency as saying yesterday that the first victims of the disease were found on March 27. He suspected that the cause was contaminated water.

Meanwhile, health officials in the nearby southern Central Timor regency reported that the So-E Hospital treats an average of six diarrhea patients every day. (swe)
