JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — The government has officially established the schedule for national holidays and joint leave during the Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr periods in 2026 through a joint decree issued by three ministers.

This decision is expected to help alleviate traffic congestion during the homecoming period while maintaining productivity during the national religious holidays of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri.

The provision is outlined in Joint Decree Number 1497, Number 2, and Number 5 of 2025 concerning National Holidays and Joint Leave in 2026, signed by the Minister of Religious Affairs, the Minister of Manpower, and the Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB).

The series of holidays will fill the period from mid to late March 2026 with national holidays and joint leave.

The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, stated that the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy will be implemented in two phases.

The homecoming phase:

With this scheme, both civil servants (ASN) and private sector employees can work from any location during these five days.

“This policy is a flexible working arrangement, not establishing a public holiday,” he said.

The Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, requested that companies not count the implementation of WFA as annual leave for employees.

“Employees who implement WFA must still carry out their duties and responsibilities. Therefore, the implementation of WFA is not counted as annual leave,” said Yassierli.

He also affirmed that employees are still entitled to full wages while implementing WFA in accordance with applicable regulations or employment agreements.

Companies are asked to regulate working hours and supervision mechanisms to ensure that productivity remains maintained even though work is carried out from different locations.
