Seven Days Before Eid: Puncak Route Still Quiet, Police Alert to Evening Rush Build-up
Entering the seventh day before Eid al-Fitr 1447H, traffic flows to the Puncak tourist area in Bogor Regency remained smooth on Saturday morning (14 March). Nevertheless, police have prepared traffic management schemes should vehicle volumes surge significantly towards the afternoon.
Based on data from Bogor Police Traffic Unit (Satlantas) until 11:00am, the number of vehicles exiting Ciawi Toll Gate (GT) heading towards Puncak was recorded at 1,100 vehicles per hour. This figure was considered still below the normal congestion threshold.
Head of Bogor Police Traffic Unit, First Inspector Ardian Novianto Azhari, revealed that the current “quiet” situation is a typical pattern during Ramadan, when tourist activity tends to decline sharply from morning to afternoon.
Whilst traffic remains controlled at present, police continue to deploy personnel at the Simpang Gadog Integrated Post. First Inspector Ardian emphasised that one-way traffic management would be immediately applied if vehicle volumes reach a certain psychological threshold.
“Police will implement one-way traffic management if the number of vehicles heading towards Puncak reaches 2,000 vehicles per hour,” said Ardian in Bogor on Saturday (14 March).
Police predict vehicle volume increases will only occur after 4:00pm or following Asr prayer. This is driven by increased mobility of local residents seeking iftar provisions or heading to markets.
There are six critical focal points that became the focus of security monitoring during the afternoon.
Operation Ketupat 2026 in the Puncak area has now entered its second day. Officers continue conducting intensive monitoring through CCTV networks and toll gate data analysis to ensure smooth homecoming traffic flow and local resident activities ahead of Eid 2026.
Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq affirmed that the removal of sanctions in the Puncak area was carried out after directly observing its impact on the community.
