Construction of People’s Schools is being accelerated across various regions of Indonesia as part of efforts to expand equitable and inclusive education access. As of 24 May 2026, seven BUMN Karya companies have been working on 86 locations, deploying 67,542 workers with an average progress of 62.19 per cent. All projects are targeted for completion by 20 June 2026.

The acceleration of construction was a key agenda item at a meeting between BP BUMN Head and Danantara COO Dony Oskaria and the Karya Group Board of Directors. The meeting focused on speeding up the People’s Schools projects and ensuring all stages meet set targets.

During the meeting, Dony emphasised the importance of accelerating the People’s Schools construction to ensure equitable education access across regions.

“People’s Schools must symbolise the state’s presence in providing more equitable education access for the public,” Dony stated in a written statement from Jakarta on Monday, 25 May 2026.

The discussion also centred on strengthening funding support and project progress monitoring to optimise construction. Additionally, BP BUMN urged enhanced legal aspects and institutional coordination with the Ministry of Public Works to expedite on-site completion.
