Jakarta, VIVA – A shocking fact has emerged in the baby-selling case recently revealed by the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim). It is recorded that as many as seven babies have been sold through social media for fantastic prices, even reaching IDR 80 million per baby.

Deputy Head of Bareskrim Polri, Police Inspector General Nunung Syaifuddin, confirmed that the seven babies have now been successfully rescued by the police. However, he believes that this number is not insignificant.

“These seven babies represent a significant number, as they are human lives, and therefore, this case has become a special focus for our leadership to uncover,” he said on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

The revelation of this case is even more concerning after the Directorate of Special Crimes for the Protection of Women and Children (PPA) and the Directorate of Special Crimes for Trafficking in Persons (PPO) discovered that the practice of selling babies was being carried out openly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Facebook.

The Head of the PPA and PPO Directorates of Bareskrim Polri, Police Brigadier General Nurul Azizah, explained that the price of babies being sold varied depending on the transaction route. If the purchase was made directly from the biological mother, the price was relatively lower compared to going through intermediaries.

“The price from the baby’s mother ranges from IDR 8 million to IDR 15 million. If it’s through an intermediary, the price ranges from IDR 15 million to IDR 80 million. The more intermediaries involved, the higher the price,” she said.

Previously, it was reported that the heinous practice of human trafficking through the sale of babies had been uncovered again. The Directorate of Special Crimes for the Protection of Women and Children (PPA) and the Directorate of Special Crimes for Trafficking in Persons (PPO) of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) arrested 12 suspects in this case.

The investigation has implicated two groups of perpetrators: a group of intermediaries and a group of biological parents. This was revealed by the Head of the PPA and PPO Directorates, Police Brigadier General Nurul Azizah.

“A total of 12 people have been named as suspects, consisting of eight people from the intermediary group and four people from the biological parent group,” she said on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

The eight suspects from the intermediary group have the initials NH (female), LA (female), S (male), EMT (female), ZH (female), H (female), BSN (female), and F (female). Meanwhile, the four suspects from the biological parent group are CPS (female), DRH (female), IP (female), and REP (male).
