Seven Airports Closed Due to Mount Anak Krakatau Ash, Including Soetta and Halim

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Soekarno-Hatta Airport (CGK), Halim Perdanakusuma (HLP), Husein Sastranegara in Bandung (BDO) and four other airports remain closed due to the spread of volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau. According to the latest aeronautical information update, the closure period for the seven airports has been extended until an estimated 18.00 WIB on 7 September 2026.

The airports still closed are:

  • Soekarno-Hatta Airport (CGK), CLOSED from 08.28 WIB until an estimated 18.00 WIB.

  • Halim Perdanakusuma Airport (HLP), CLOSED from 08.16 WIB until an estimated 18.00 WIB.

  • Radin Inten II Airport, Lampung (TKG), CLOSED from 08.20 WIB until an estimated 18.00 WIB.

  • Budiarto Airport, Curug (RTO), CLOSED from 08.30 WIB until an estimated 18.00 WIB.

  • Husein Sastranegara Airport, Bandung (BDO), CLOSED from 08.32 WIB until an estimated 18.00 WIB.

  • Muhammad Taufiq Kiemas Airport (WILP), CLOSED from 08.35 WIB until an estimated 18.00 WIB.

  • Pondok Cabe Airport (PCB), CLOSED from 08.37 WIB until an estimated 18.00 WIB.

Meanwhile, Pagar Alam/Atung Bungsu Airport (WIPY) in Pagar Alam, South Sumatra, has returned to OPEN status based on NOTAM C1107/26 NOTAMC C1105/26, effective from 08.12 WIB on 7 September 2026.

EVP of Corporate Secretary Hermana Soegijantoro said the adjustment of airport operational status was a mitigation step to support aviation safety, taking into account the distribution of volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau.

“AirNav Indonesia continues to monitor developments in airspace conditions and the spread of volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau. Aeronautical information will continue to be updated in line with actual conditions and aviation safety information,” he said in a written statement on Monday (7/9/2026).

AirNav Indonesia is also continuing to coordinate with aviation stakeholders to ensure that information regarding airspace conditions and air navigation services is communicated in a timely manner.
