Settlement in Gambir, Central Jakarta, Catches Fire; 21 Fire Engines Deployed

A fire broke out in a residential area in Gambir, Central Jakarta. More than 80 firefighting personnel were deployed to the scene.

“Yes, that is correct (there is a fire in Gambir),” said Syarifudin, Head of the Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-Department, on Monday (31/8/2026).

According to data from the Command Center of the DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Department, the fire was reported by residents to the fire service by telephone at 13.40 WIB.

The fire occurred on Jalan Batu Ceper 8, RT 005 RW 001, Kebon Kelapa Urban Village, Gambir District, Central Jakarta. A total of 21 fire engines and 85 firefighting personnel were deployed to extinguish the fire.

Firefighting operations began at 13.46 WIB. The extinguishing process is still ongoing.

“The fire status is in the process of being extinguished,” he said.

The cause and chronology of the fire are not yet known. There is also no information yet on whether there are any casualties as a result of the fire.
