Setiawan Budi Cahyono Officially Inaugurated as Head of the Bali High Prosecutor's Office
Setiawan Budi Cahyono has officially taken office as the Head of the Bali High Prosecutor’s Office following his inauguration by Attorney General ST Burhanuddin at the 11th-floor Hall of the Main Building of the Attorney General’s Office on Wednesday (29/4/2026). He replaces Chatarina Muliana Girsang. In the presence of Setiawan and dozens of other Echelon II officials inaugurated that day, Burhanuddin delivered a firm message on integrity. “Give your best, not because of job demands, but as a manifestation of personal integrity and honour. Demonstrate performance that not only meets targets but leaves a meaningful legacy of service,” stated Burhanuddin. Burhanuddin also stressed that there would be no tolerance whatsoever, such as structural promotions for those who have faced disciplinary sanctions. Leaders of work units are required to implement inherent supervision over all their members. Beyond morals, Burhanuddin reminded his subordinates to abandon old work patterns and adapt to the demands of the Industry 5.0 Revolution, including mastering the digital space as a bulwark against the increasingly rampant disinformation on social media. In addition to the Bali High Prosecutor’s Office, 29 other Echelon II officials were inaugurated to strengthen law enforcement in various regional and central institutions. Setiawan’s inauguration is based on the Decree of the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia Number 347 of 2026, issued on 13 April 2026. This inauguration signals a new era of law enforcement on the Island of the Gods. Setiawan replaces Chatarina Muliana, who now holds the position of Head of the Centre for Management of Asset Tracing and Confiscation. Not a new name on the national legal stage, Setiawan brings substantial experience. Before arriving in Bali, he served as Director IV in the Attorney General for Intelligence of the Republic of Indonesia Prosecutor’s Office, and previously held the position of Deputy Head of the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office, experiences that position him as a mature figure in intelligence as well as regional leadership.
