Set to Return to Detention, KPK: Yaqut Undergoing Health Check at Police Hospital
Jakarta, VIVA – KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo has announced that Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, the suspect in the alleged Hajj quota corruption case and former Minister of Religious Affairs, is undergoing a health examination at the Indonesian National Police Hospital (RS Polri) before returning to detention. “At present, the health examination by doctors is still ongoing at RS Bhayangkara Tingkat I Raden Said Sukanto (RS Polri), East Jakarta,” Budi said, quoted on Tuesday, 24 March 2026. Therefore, Budi invited all Indonesian citizens to wait together for the results of the health test before the KPK transfers Yaqut’s detention from house arrest back to the detention centre. “Let us all wait for the results of this health test,” he stated. On the other hand, he said that the KPK ensures that the investigation into the Hajj quota case will continue, in accordance with applicable mechanisms and provisions. In particular, Budi said, this involves completing the investigation file and submitting it to the prosecution stage. “We will keep updating on the developments,” he added. It is known that previously, on 21 March 2026, the wife of the defendant in the alleged corruption case involving extortion and former Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan, namely Silvia Rinita Harefa, spoke to journalists after visiting her husband. Silvia told the journalists waiting for her that there was information circulating among the detainees regarding Yaqut not being seen in the state detention centre or rutan. “Earlier, Gus Yaqut wasn’t seen. The info is that he left on Thursday night (19/3),” she said. She claimed to have received information that Yaqut was also not seen during the Eid al-Fitr prayers on 21 March 2026. “According to people inside, he wasn’t there. He wasn’t present,” she said.
